| Expanding Creaking
and slow, wings unfold
Long tired from disuse.
Over the years they lay tied down
Forgotten.
Now, these sinews of power
Open to the world,
Stroke by stroke regaining their strength
In new bursts.
Soaring into the gaping blue
Enflamed by the sun,
And caressed by the knowing moon,
In balance.
Never turning a clear eye
To safe caged rodents,
But letting memory fuel the wings
Somewhere new.
