Yesterday was packed full! I had the pleasure of meeting Georgia Heard and having her sign my copy of her book Writing Toward Home. I also had a lovely dinner with children's poet Kenn Nesbitt and his wife. In my "spare" time we did a large group performance/workshop that was fun and packed as well as the "small" workshop that Rodney did later in the day while manned the booth and chatted with teachers from all over Washington. Now...i'm off to more stuff.~w

I was too tired to write before sleeping last night and this morning i need to be down at the table now (7am pacific) to set it up and have it ready by 7:30am. Conferences are long days...but fun.~w

We are cozy here at the Davenport hotel. The flights were thankfully uneventful even though we had to change planes twice. The hotel is amazing and everyone here is very helpful and friendly. We're getting ready to head off to our first "Action Lab" this morning and it looks to be a great day.~w

I'm flying away today to Washington! Yeah! I think i'm as prepared as i can be, but who knows what can happen. House, cat, and office seem to be in capable hands and so i'm going to try and leave the worrying behind. This'll also be the first trip for the new computer, so i'll see how it travels. With that...i'm going to shut down and pack it up so i'm ready to go.~w

Happy Birthday Jenn!!
There was a lovely little surprise party for her last night that totally surprised her. It was full of good company and very relaxing.
Geez, i used those adjectives yesterday..."lovely"..."relaxing." Okay, maybe i'm just wandering around in a daze right now as the whirlwind of office is leaving my hands and i'm handing off to others so i can go and do poetry again for 10 days. Hee hee...
In other news, i paid a visit to my 74 year old neighbor and got a good dose of neighborhood history that i'd been missing. I should go over with a tape recorder sometime (if she doesn't mind) because she's going a bit too fast for me to keep track of it all.~w

For all my hurrying to start, yesterday turned out to be a lovely slow and relaxing day. I had the pleasure of wandering around town with friends and looking at shiney things. Instead of running away to work i actually enjoyed being social and even had them back to the house for dinner. I also now have a roommate and things just seem a little calmer around here.
I still woke up at 4am...but i went back to sleep.~w

Is it possible to run late on your day off? I just realized i have an hour to shower, dress, start the laundry and be somewhere that is probably 15min away. There are so many things i want to squeeze into today, i don't know how i'll find all the time!~w
