Well i did everything but write yesterday. Perhaps i should have. I felt like i was juggling soap bubbles, and standing under a bubble machine trying to do it. So, i suppose if only the writing fell through the cracks that's not too bad. I can always do it tomorrow...right?

The song with accompaniment sounds pretty dern good if i do say so myself, and Kate said so too. So that counts for something. I feel like i'm behind on everything at work, but mostly it's just that i have a bazillion different things going at the same time. So what did i dream about last night? Who knows, but i woke up thinking about playing D&D, which i won't be doing this weekend since i'll be singing at a wedding. Unless...they play Sunday and i can manage to get my car load back from Indiana at a decent hour...

It's good study for character development. Maybe i'll just create a bunch of characters and start writing a story of my own. Yeah, like it's that easy. But, maybe it is. I guess i'm just doubting whether i have it in me to complete such a task, so i never get started on it in the first place. One of these days...~w

Sushi makes me giddy. I was taken out last night to repay a favor and felt like i certainly got the better end of the deal. Yum yum! I'll have to find a way to repay the repayment sometime (or at least make up the difference).

Today the goal is to get the song down for the wedding i'm singing at on Saturday. It's a fairly easy song and i've been humming it to myself quite a bit, but now it's working out the keyboard part with the keyboardist and polishing it up pretty. Before that though i have a cat due to the vet for annual shots and office work to do. I suppose i'd better get busy. (note to self...must squeeze in writing time to continue the work i started to do last week)~w

Since Kim says it's all the rage to Google "[My Name] + is", I decided i'd check out the game for myself and Googled "wendi is". This is what happened:
  1. Wendi is a charter member of the Belly Dancing Troup, The Goddess Babes

  2. Wendi is also the Editor-in-Chief

  3. Wendi is active in the national, state, and local bar associations

  4. Wendi is supportive and caring yet willing to challenge limiting or destructive attitudes and behaviors to help you gain a clearer understanding of who you are ...

  5. Wendi is available to assist students' needs

  6. Wendi is the most important person in my life.

  7. Wendi is an experienced model and her modeling is never "over-posed"

  8. Wendi is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists

  9. Wendi is deeply influenced by Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell

  10. Wendi is home!

  11. Wendi is terrific!
I had the pleasure yesterday of potlucking it with an old friend of mine from Seattle. She's down visiting her old friends, who are also my friends, that she knew when she lived here before moving to Seattle. Now however she lives in upstate New York. Make sense? Anyway i hadn't seen her or her daughter Corey in 6 years. Children grow a lot in that amount of time. Her daughter greeted me as warmly as if i'd just seen her yesterday, but i think that was partly my 5 year old friend, Si-guy's doing. She admitted that she didn't remember me, and why would she, she's only 8 now, making her 2 or 3 the last time i saw her. They showed me their rope swing tricks when i arrived and then we shucked corn and played with fireflys. The highlight of the evening though was when the Si-man lost his first baby tooth right in front of us all while eating corn on the cob! We panicked when it nearly was lost on the patio, but once it was found he put it in a box for safe keeping until the tooth fairy arrived. We looked through the fairy cards and decided that Penelope Dreamweaver must be the tooth fairy despite Corey's objection about the name. You see she could recite (and did) the tale of Odyseus' wife Penelope and didn't think she could be the same person as the tooth fairy. Watch out...literate children alert. In fact they both assured me they would grow up to be taller, stronger and smarter than me. The world may be in trouble.~w

Today i'm back to office work, but i'm starting from home working on the website. That means i should get to work now and stop dalleying.

Yesterday was a lovely restful day with time for friends and just watching the fireflies dance in my backyard.~w

p.s. note, there's a new link in the "things to read" section for the fabulous "Sam's Day Off." As if her draw-rings weren't enough, she now has a "hottie of the fortnight" section. rrrreoww! hee hee~w
I slept in late today and then paid bills. Blah, i know, but it's now done.

Yesterday was much more interesting. We said good bye to all the summer residents and delivered them to the airport or where they needed to go. Then we cleaned up the dorm and toasted ourselves for a week well done. It was a little sad to go though. I stopped by a friend's to pick up some paperwork on the way to my music lesson and was treated to a story read to me by my favorite 5 year old. He just picked up the book and read it. I'm not sure who was more excited about it, him or me. The look on his face when he sounded out "list-en" was of sheer frustration which turned to joy when he got to the end of the line and went back and figured out it was "listen." He is amazing. I enjoyed a quick bite of tuna melt with them before trundling myself off to my lesson. I spent an hour learning to sing Indian (as in from India) ragas which left my body buzzing and my ears wide open. Needing groceries I then headed to the story where i found my groceries being pilfered before i paid for them by an acquaintance i hadn't seen for a while. He actually asked if he could walk me to my car to flirt with me, and i'm afraid i laughed at him. We did have a lovely little conversation in the parking lot though that was a refreshing addition to my day.

The evening ended with a potluck of delicious fried chicken. Yum yum. Oh, i guess we ate other things too, but the chicken was the thing. Then off to Asheville Pizza Co for the $2 movie special..."The Scorpion King." I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time. I woke up this morning percolating strange ideas from that experience. I just hope i haven't lost them all now that i've forced myself to sit down and do my paperwork. I'm off to find more intesting things now for this day.~w
