Well, we had some fun with the Mountain Community school kids and then i was a busy bee on the Poetry Alive! website for the rest of the afternoon and early evening. So, i decided to take myself out and do only exactly what i wanted to do for the rest of the evening. I attended a talk by a local spiritualist/psychic, but jetted before the q&a so i could get down the block to hear my friend's band play. That was quite lovely and now feeling much more relaxed i tried to connect with some friends who i had passed on my way, but no luck. So i took up the invitation of a friend i hadn't talked to in months and stopped in to visit the tattoo parlor. No, i didn't get anything pierced or inked, but i did have a fun conversation. Eventually it was time to close up shop and the other friends joined up so that the gang of 5 (still minus one) from last fall was nearly reunited after some rough months. So, after some pizza and pool we bid our farewells and i trundled myself home to bed.

Today i'm moving slow. Because i can. Because i don't HAVE to do anything today (even though the jungle in my backyard is screaming "Mow ME!"). The laundry is 1/2 done and i am fed and i may just plop down and zone out on the tv for a bit...~w

Today is a whole day of students from K-8 at small school south of here. The good news is that i don't have to deal with paperwork today and can just play with kids. The bad news is that i need to leave now (7:45am) in order to get there and i'm not quite awake yet. But the better news is that i actually have a weekend off!! That means i can sleep in tomorrow. Wheee! Off to play.~w

I get to play with more kids today once i survive a morning in the office. I feel completely out of touch with that world right now though and am dragging my feet this morning as i try to get around. I even caught up on my personal finances finally, which shows you just how draggy i'm being. The good news is that i didn't do myself in yesterday! The bad news is that i'll have to be more frugal with my "fun" budget for a while. I do wanna see Star Wars soon though....and Spider Man...and Lord of the Rings is still playing for $2 at the Pizza Co and i wouldn't mind seeing that on the large screen again. Harumph. Maybe i just need to make magic in my own world instead of watching what someone else has created.

Oh, and the guy at the check out at Best Buy joked about needing to ID me for the stereo (which i have to be 18 to purchase i guess) but seriously guessed i was no older that 23. Hee hee! It must be 4th grader youth rubbing off on me.~w

Sorry no posting this morning. I didn't take the laptop to South Carolina and was running late when i stopped through last night. We had a splendiforous show today with upper elementary kids and then played with the 4th graders in workshops the rest of the day. Almost the rest of the day that is...i got back in town in time to check out the deals at Best Buy which is dangerously close to my boss's house. I found out yesterday that my lodging fell through for getting to the wedding, so i found a different way to spend the money...um sort of. You see, they had free installation on car stereos (that i've been drooling over for several months now) and i could get a new interest free credit line until Jan 2003 from them if i spent a minimum amount that just happened to cover the stereo i wanted and a couple of movies (Holy Grail special edition and Matrix) plus the highly recommended new Moby album. I hadn't really planned to do anything but check prices and harass King Godrick (by day the security supervisor at the store) about his tickets for the midnight showing of Star Wars Episode II. I don't have tickets and can't get any because he bought the last two in town for him and his wife. He wouldn't let me have them though and my temptation resolve was weak...so, i have new toys. I am also connected to the internet by cable as of yesterday morning. So, i have quickly gone from Renaissance fairie geek to tech geek. Ah well, i'll be more in tune with the universe tomorrow i suppose.

After all this, i got home to find a very sweet mother's day present from my mom. I'm guessing that's what it is, although i thought gifts were to go the other way around. It's not fancy, but it would have made me the stylinist fairie at the fair. Thanks mom! I suppose i should have mentioned by now that i have the best mom in the world...but sometimes you forget and take the important things for granted.~w

Let's see where to begin? I'm still dazzled by the weekends festivities. There was the main story that was scripted and went off smashingly, but there were also all the little side stories that developed as we amused ourselves and the guest of the faire from 10am to 6pm each day. My first paid job was walking around as a costumed character in an amusement park and doing stage shows throughout the day. However, i didn't get to talk to the customers until i had my wisdom teeth taken out and became the jester who played the flute instead. You see, a swollen head inside a huge fiberglass head was just not a good idea. So, this weekend i was healthy and in good shape but able to talk and play with people in the faire.

I think my favorite side story happened Sunday when the town crier Faustus wandered into fairie land carrying a "Fairie Duster." As Queen i quickly quelled the chaos that ensued by using fairie dust to cast a sleeping spell on him. He fell asleep and the fairies removed and hid the duster from his person. I asked what we should do with him and it was decided that we would cast a love spell on him to make him fall in love with the Fairie Lilica (unfortunately the little fairies got a little excited about this and he ended up with fairie dust in his ear during this spell). We then led him to Lilica and i warned Prince Nigel that Faustus had made a mistake... Prince Nigel, not fond of fairies himself decided he'd better undo this spell as quickly as possible and sought the help of a magician to reverse the spell. However, it did little but confuse poor Faustus for now he found himself both loving and hating the fair Fairie Lilica at the same time.

In addition we had other little stories and adventures and amused the customers with fairy dust (always asking before blessing them) and magic gold beads that grant wishes when they are given away. Even as Queen of the Fairies i couldn't control the mortal weather, but it managed to stay dry but overcast and a breezy 70 degrees on Saturday and it wasn't until Sunday afternoon that the heat climbed to a toasty temperature for the more heavily clad at the fair. Anyhow, it's time to return to the real world now. Fair thee well...~w

The faire was the most fun i've had in a long time. The "pack of pixies" following me around today were especially amusing. There is too much to tell before i fall asleep, but here are a few rehearsal photos to whet your appetite. Click a picture to see a larger view...~w
