Okay, my bills and stuff are out of the way and my computer seems to like me today. So, the story of the car...

I almost survived Feb 14th without a hitch. I was feeling pretty good about having written responses to kids who had sent letters to Poetry Alive. Nothing had gone to terribly wrong. I drove into my driveway feeling pretty good, stopped to get the mail and locked myself out of the car with it running. Oops. The good news is that i had a spare key to the house so i could get inside. The bad news is that after some extensive searching i discovered that i apparently don't have a spare key to my car. Fortunately i have AAA and i called them. Unfortunately, in my nervous mania while waiting for them i broke the only "potluck" pot i have the day before a potluck. Fortunately, all i was asked to bring was packaged cookies. Unfortunately, the AAA guy seemed to be taking longer than the 30min that they'd said. Fortunately, i had plenty of gas in my car. Unfortunately, he showed up just as i'd put the pasta in the boiling pot. Fortunately, he was able to get into the car faster than the pasta could cook. So, all in all it only cost me a 1/4 tank of gas and a pot and embarrasement, but it was enough to keep me inside and quiet for the rest of the day. It took half of yesterday to get mechanical things to behave when i touched them again, but i seemed to have surmounted that problem as well.

Today, my plans were completely rescheduled, but it's okay because i'm finally getting the paper stuff taken care of that i've been avoiding. This evening i'll be ready for some fun with friends. I think Mother India is on the menu.~w

If i could get a computer to work for me today i could tell you the story about locking my keys in the car yesterday while it was running in my driveway and breaking a pot, but so far i've typed it twice and lost it before i could save it due to a computer freezing or losing my text.~w

I was dreaming about vampires last night. Not mean ones, they didn't suck blood, but they had to eat meat. I was trying to figure out how much meat they needed to eat and apparently there was something goofy about their vision. They had a hard time seeing in bright light. I woke up to a gorgeous sunny day. It looks to be a lovely day and i'm trying not to let superstition get to me. Just because of the date on the calender i don't have to expect a bad luck day. I know I know, it's not Friday the 13th, but that day has never bothered me. It's Thursday the 12th and Feburary 14th that seem to trip me up. It's just numbers and even the numerology of it probably doesn't add up to much. Still it's an uphill battle against my inner fears.~w

The piano is out of my dining room. Granted it's still on the back patio, but i've been assured that it will be gone by the end of the day. Now, if it was my piano and well tuned so i could enjoy playing it i probably would be sad to see it go. However, it's my old roommates...was, she sold it and the woman was supposed to pick it up in October, only 4 months ago. It would have been a lovely piano to refurbish and retune if i had more space, but it felt claustrophobic in here with it. So, last night i rearranged my work area. The hutch is no longer in front of the window and the laptop is now on a table in front of the window that is low so i can both see out the window and save myself some backstrain. Ah, freedom. Now if i could just create a little more desk space for myself....that could be a problem. Getting rid of the piano just doesn't solve my need to go through the paper around me and either file it or recycle it. I'll get there eventually i suppose.

Oh, and Happy New Year again by the way. Yesterday was the official Chinese New Year on the new moon.~w

You shouldn't try to write down your dreams while you're dreaming them. You wake up with ink stains on yourself and on the pillow. Fortunately i got my shoulder and not my face. It seemed to come off pretty well anyway. When i looked at what i'd tried to write on the page it seemed to be a senseless garbled mush. I'll have to decode it later and see if it means anything. I thought i was awake when i picked up the pen, but apparently i fell asleep before ever putting anything intelligible on paper. ~w

No organizing was done yesterday, but i had fun ruining another roll of film. Once again despite my efforts it failed to advance the film and took only one frame over and over again. Ah well. A little writing was done, and a lot of flute playing and a few phone calls all in the glorious backyard. The evening was spent with some wonderful women being women. Late last night the winds of change started blowing hard again. The aggressive wind is still gusting hard this morning and is sure to make for an interesting day.~w

I woke up thinking about finally organizing my paper work. I haven't done it yet today and well...maybe tonight. The pile isn't that bad after all and there is nothing there with a deadline. I think i need to do some more flute playing and maybe take some pictures in the sunshine. Speaking of which, it's gorgeous outside. Why am i sitting inside at the computer? Harumph. There doesn't seem to be any good reason, so bye for now!~w
