Well, i made it to Seattle (well technically, not quite yet, i'm in Issaquah at my Dad's). Who knows what will happen next. Today i must figure out where i will put my stuff and make my bed for the next few nights so that i can relax this evening and enjoy the poetry. I've made a couple of phone calls, but i just had a bright idea that i need to see through. I'll get back to ya.~w

Okay, i'm not going with the Winston-Salem team. They had a miscommunication and their missing team member actually showed up at the airport and boarded the plane with them. Still, i have the time to go, so with a little help from priceline.com on the money part i've decided to go anyway. I figured what the heck, i'll see lots of friends, eat good sushi, enjoy a plethora of poetry, and maybe even relax a little after two weeks of taking care of other people's needs. So, i'm off to work and then the airport and will check in tomorrow morning from my dad's house.~w

It seems that the nagging little part of my brain that's been wanting to hop a plane to Seattle for the National Poetry Slam may have won out after all. I received a call last night offering me a plane ticket if i'll compete on the Winston-Salem, NC team since they lost a member. Whoo hoo! It hasn't quite sunk in as real yet, but i'm wired this morning as i wait to hear when and where i'm flying out.

Last night was a flurry of phone calls as i found someone to replace me for the show i was supposed to do here on Thursday and made sure that everyone at work was okay with me disappearing for the rest of the week. Somehow in the midst of that i managed to get my laundry done so i'll have clean clothes to pack. I didn't make it to the grocery store this weekend, which is probably a good thing, so i made a quick list of things to grab at some point today. Fortunately i'm good at packing at the last minute (i've had lots of practice).~w

It's rained for three days straight on and off in a misty kinda way. It's just like Seattle weather. Of course anyone who's just visited there knows that for some reason the sun comes out for tourists. Usually, it does. I suppose it's the way that area has of luring people to it just so it can see what they're made of when the winter dark sets in. There's nothing like sunrise at 8am and sunset at 4pm in a grey rainy week to make you want to curl up and hide from the world. I always perfered to go to work at 10 and get home around 3:30 just so it was light for my walk to work and walk home. Of course there were only a couple of jobs that i really worked that schedule, but sometimes i pretended i did anyway.

It's going to be a quiet and wet day at Bele Cher today. This is not the Bumbershoot Festival (named after an umbrella). Actually, i'm not sure what it means. Maybe "beautiful market" or something. It was originally created to help build business downtown.

Anyway, all that aside i'm off to help with the last day of airport drop-offs. This evening i think is the office party for poetry alive to celebrate the end of the fiscal year.~w
