Ah, I'm home again. My cat was very happy to see me and followed me around as i tried to unpack and sort mail before falling into bed for a nap. We enjoyed our first evening at the festival which was fun after i got over the stress of my car's grumpiness. Ciro tried everything and determined that i need a new battery. Fortunately, it's a stick so we push started it to get to the festival and back with ciro following in the rental car. Add that to my list of things to take care of when i get back again in a couple of weeks. Rumor has it that Sears will run a free system check to make sure it's the battery before i spend the money. Since it's one of their batteries i figure that's what i'll do.
For the first time since September everybody is back in Asheville and it's good to see the other folks and swap stories. One team still is on the west coast though and had a show today in my mom's town. I told them to go visit her, but i haven't heard whether or not they did.
Today (Saturday) ciro and i perform at the festival and will enjoy our last chance to visit with the other performers before everyone leaves for the summer. Rodney is presenting awards, and i think ciro and i have locked up the road warrior award with the most miles after this whole Wisconsin drive thing.
Mostly i'm just glad we finished the drive safely.~w

We've made it to Superior and the temperature is 30 degrees cooler (at least) than Tennessee was yesterday. It may be spring here, but i feel like we just drove into winter again. We have shows here in the morning and then plan to drive through the night to be in Asheville again on Friday for the LEAF. I feel like i've been hung by my heels and am completely disoriented. 20 hours is a long time to spend in a car. I'll let you know Friday how the drive back to Asheville went...~w

We started at 7:45am, did three shows and then hit the road. We made it to Chicago. Now i'm exhausted. Tomorrow we finish the drive to Superior, Wisconsin.~w

So our first day in Athens, Tennessee went smoothly. Except for the fact that ciro had to spend his afternoon hunting down a eye doctor who could see him so he could get new contacts since he lost one of his last two contacts this morning. The kids were fun and silly, especially Will who had a silly switch that was malfunctioning. He's working on it though.
Tomorrow we do three shows and then drive to Chicago. It's a long day for us, so tonight i'm just relaxing. Ciro had to do laundry, but the place was empty so we turned off the tv and i read out loud some more of our current book. Reading is good. It takes my mind off the fact that the tour is almost over and ciro and i will both be moving on to other things. It's hard to imagine that next year won't involve running all over the country with ciro. I'm hoping things will work out for both of us, but it's kinda scary at this point. I don't really want to think about it yet.~w

Back in a hotel room again. It's nothing much to look at, but it's more familiar than home these days. The standard door with deadbolt and swing latch, next to the window and underneath the window a ac/heat unit, next to that a floor lamp, a table with two chairs, next to those the nightstand with phone and alarm clock under brass color wall lamp by the bed that only sags a little in the middle, over the bed some vague picture in a frame to bland to notice, across from the bed a TV next to a low two drawer bureau under a mirror, then there's the metal rack for hanging things on "unstealable" hangers by the sink counter with a big mirror and flourescent light, oh and standard toilet and bathtub/shower with thin white towels. This room stands out only for the blue border painted around the top of the room with white splotches (was someone thinking clouds?). Otherwise i could be in any town USA just down the street from K-mart, Wal-mart, McDonalds, Wendy's, and Applebee's. We ate at the local BBQ joint instead.~w

Okay, i know it says Sunday, but really it's still Saturday in my way of thinking...just so ya know...
You'd think sleeping in my own bed for a change would be a good thing. Not so when it's a 11 year old futon that is just about as compressed as it can get. Rock hard it is. So, first off upon arriving home i need a new bed. Then i need a ladder so i can get on the roof and clean out the gutters (got a gift certificate for Lowe's just need a person with a truck to take me there). Then i find out that one of the cabinets has been infested with grain moths. Eeeew! All that food's been thrown out and a major scrubbing is needed. Then after leaving to get something to eat (not even considering eaten anything that jen may have around) i come back and am overwhelmed by the scent of the cat box since i closed the windows during the thunderstorm. So now that's cleaned out. It goes without saying that i washed my sheets first thing yesterday to remove the cat hair and the entire house needs to be vacuumed and dusted...but we won't go into that. Oh, and while i was out i killed my battery and even with driving it around quite a bit i can't get it to hold a charge very well. Ciro says he can help me with that though (yeah!). Anyway, so much for a relaxing weekend.
On the positive side, i did have a good time hanging out with my boss and ciro and amanda at Jack of the Wood last night. Bob bought dinner and the cover for us to make it a free and fun evening for us all. Today i had a lovely lunch with Ray at a great new restaurant called Tupelo Honey Cafe and enjoyed a pleasant walk around town before the rain hit.
Anyway, it looks like it will take some time for me to settle in once all this travel stuff is done. There's so much to do it makes my head spin and in order to have a life i need to remember how to talk to people more than once every few months and learn to make friends again.~w
