Okay, so i've been rather lazy about links lately. I haven't really been on-line except to check email and type a blurb here lately. But, here's a good one, Benham Gallery. I got to visit the gallery for their christmas eve gathering thanks to my friend Denis Kempe who is represented there. Unfortunately, his next show has been delayed due to the fact that his dark room hasn't been rebuilt after moving from his former space which is being turned into high priced condos. Catch all that? I know it was a rather convoluted sentence. So, go look at some pictures and i'll get back to you tomorrow with better constructed sentences.~w

Well i made it home safe and sound. I'm now sitting in my very own bed with my kitty curled up on top of me. I have a bad cough though. I hate how dry airplane air is. Sleepy now. Wanna curl up and forget the world.~w

No Portland trip today. I didn't hear from Matthew until late in the day and he was working, so it would have been difficult to spend any time visiting between his work and my needing to catch a plane early in the morning. It worked out okay though because Mom wasn't quite finished with christmas yet i guess. Today we went shopping and now i have a new coat. Thanks Mom, it's beautiful!!! She just hated my ratty old leather jacket that i've had for about 10 years. So, yeah it's falling apart, but "it has character," as the lady at the checkout counter put it. It's safely packed away despite murmurs of confiscating it for disposal.
Tomorrow i spend the day travelling across the country. I start at 8am pacific and end at 8pm eastern, boy will i be confused. The worst part will be my 3 hour lay over in Charlotte since if i only had a ride i could be in asheville before the second plane even boarded. Oh well.
I think i got a good enough dose of good sushi to last me until our travels take us to Houston again. Mom and i ate at Ah So! in Buckley for lunch and then Dad and i ate more for dinner at Sushiman in Issaquah. The only one i didn't make it to was Musashi's in Wallingford. Mmmm...sushi.
Other than that, it was just family time today. So, until asheville...~w

Well, another busy day in "vacation" land. I started by catching up on email and work stuff that's still filtering my way. Then lunch with mom, afternoon chat with Grandma and cousin Ben (who's 7), and finally dinner at Hana with my dear friend Darlene (who've i've know since the sixth grade). While waiting for Darlene i had a surprisingly lovely conversation with a man named Michael. I first noticed him when he was asking this couple if they would smile if he stood on his head and sang a song for them. They agreed and so he stood on his head (on his bag with his feet leaning against a tree in the sidewalk) and sang an AC/DC tune. Scary but they smiled and gave him a cigarette when he asked for one. Then he came to ask me for spare change. I told him i had none (which i didn't) but i could give him a poem. So, we had a lovely conversation trading poems and stories until darlene arrived. I have one more stop to make before i head home. Unfortunately it's a long drive to Portland, but i think mom's going too so we can have some quality time togther. Maybe i can even check out how my GPS thingy works.~w

Well, i just noticed that even though i'm in Washington the date on these postings is for the eastern time zone. Oh well, just makes it a touch more silly than normal. My eyelids are heavy after a full day of family and food and presents. I got a nice warm fuzzy jacket that i'm wearing and it makes me want to sleep.
Maybe it was the camera clicking that started it, but i felt like i wandered into never-land today and may not make it back out. Is this making sense? I think i'm typing asleep. More later when i'm awake.~w

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Bright Blessing on the Solstice and all...
They say that christmas is the time for sharing. I can think of no better way of sharing that sitting around chatting and catching up with old friends until the wee hours of the morning. So that's what i did. Shortly (after a bit of sleep) i plan to catch up with the family and see what they've all been up to.
Feeling all warm and toasty with from the bright smiles of friends i bid a very merry christmas to all and to all a good night (until morning).~w

Mom, dad, step-dad, grandma, sis and me all ate more food today (crazy i tell ya). Actually, we ate at one of cyndi and my favorite restaurants called Billy McHales. It's changed quite a bit over the years, but they still have darn good ribs, a lovely onion loaf made with walla walla sweet onions and even some tasty new things like a smoked salmon tortellini pasta dish. Well stuffed, we dropped cyndi off at the airport to head back to chicago. i then went on up to seattle. i had a nice slow lazy day puttering around town. i spent a good hour writing in my old coffee shop haunt Bauhaus on capitol hill (where many of my poems got their start). Fortunately it's still pretty much the same. Then i spent the rest of the day visiting with old friends and meeting some new ones. I learned that Dave loves his local bar enough to buy everyone a drink on his birthday, and someday Omar will be doing great things to help make the world a better place. For once it seems like people's hearts are in the right place for the holidays. Rather than complaining about family or shopping, these folks were talking about what they could do to create a little peace on earth of their own. Kinda fits with the song that my sister was humming yesterday "let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me." A strange little bit of syncronicity perhaps. There are probably many more details of the day, but that is what sticks out and i'm exhausted. So, toodles for now.~w
