Mister Jelly
August 10, 2004 - March 17, 2005

A bundle of joy that brightened each day
Always at the ready with his toys to play
Winning the hearts of all of our guests
There never was doubt which puppy was best

Now puppies make messes, and he made a few
But he learned so quickly the good things to do
He was jolly and playful, always looking to please
And learned not to fill the house with outside leaves

He could sit, stand and fetch and loved to learn tricks
And if you asked him for kisses, your face he would lick
He was always first to greet you when you came home
And loved to ride in the car when you wanted to roam

He could make lots of ruckus when strangers came by
But would gladly just love them if we were nearby
He wanted to protect us and tried his best
But being so little he was put to the test

The neighbor's pack of dogs wandered through our yard
We told them to go home and shouted hard
But little Mister Jelly and his mama Miss Rose
Lept into action following their nose

We heard a loud scuffle and Rosie came back in
But Jelly never followed and we had to find him
Rosie had been scratched and as best we can tell
Jelly died defending our property and his mother as well.

I just edited and updated the dates Reese is playing in the last post so they are more correct. Eventually I'll have a better place to put them, but that's where they are now. Also, be sure to check for updates on the Firecracker page. ~w

Geez, time flies when you're busy. I just noticed that I haven't blogged for a month. What have I been up to? Well...

Handz on Artz is in full swing preparing for the Open House at Tryon Fine Arts Center on March 23rd and 24th. I helped out a 7th grade English class with their production of "The Diary of Anne Frank" in February. I have been teaching drama classes once a week for 7th & 8th graders and starting Monday I'll be helping them to block "The Wizard of Oz" that they will be performing in April. I also helped some 7th grade students prepare for Tryon Little Theatre's auditions for "To Kill a Mockingbird." I'm proud to say that one of the students was cast! I was also offered a part, but had to turn it down in favor of keeping up with the Poetry Alive! performance schedule this Spring. It would have been fun, but the paid gigs have to come first. I've done a few of those shows as well over the past month as well as training a new full time actor. It's time to start on next year's scripts for them as well and so it's looking like this next month will be just as busy.

One of the things I haven't had time to do is to make Reese's webpage. He is playing music when he can, but is currently lost in the depths of working on a 10 foot statue of Juan Marichal for the San Francisco Giants. Okay, he's not actually sculpting it, but he's doing everything else necessary to help our neighbor finish the sculpture. He's playing a few gigs with some bands that I'll list for you below. Check the Firecracker Jazz Band page for more gigs.

All in all this winter has had our household too busy to see straight. ~w
