Mister Jelly
August 10, 2004 - March 17, 2005

A bundle of joy that brightened each day
Always at the ready with his toys to play
Winning the hearts of all of our guests
There never was doubt which puppy was best

Now puppies make messes, and he made a few
But he learned so quickly the good things to do
He was jolly and playful, always looking to please
And learned not to fill the house with outside leaves

He could sit, stand and fetch and loved to learn tricks
And if you asked him for kisses, your face he would lick
He was always first to greet you when you came home
And loved to ride in the car when you wanted to roam

He could make lots of ruckus when strangers came by
But would gladly just love them if we were nearby
He wanted to protect us and tried his best
But being so little he was put to the test

The neighbor's pack of dogs wandered through our yard
We told them to go home and shouted hard
But little Mister Jelly and his mama Miss Rose
Lept into action following their nose

We heard a loud scuffle and Rosie came back in
But Jelly never followed and we had to find him
Rosie had been scratched and as best we can tell
Jelly died defending our property and his mother as well.
